            The International Council of Shopping Centers reported weekly sales of major retailers up 2.4% versus the prior week and up 2.6% versus the comparable period a year ago; Redbook Research reported month to date retail chain store sales up 1.5% on a year over year basis.

            The January Institute for Supply Management’s nonmanufacturing index came in at 55.2 versus expectations of 55.1.

            Weekly mortgage applications rose 3.4% while purchase applications were up 2.0%.
